In the latest Inside the Vault article, Bethesda announced that Fallout 76 players will soon be able to try out running their own caravan company in the Appalachian Wasteland. While the future will be limited to the Public Test Server, for now, it will eventually make its way to the live game. Bethesda's announcement covers more than just the caravan company feature. It discusses everything coming to the Public Test Server as the developer slowly trials every feature in Fallout 76's next major patch. In addition to allowing players to set up their own mobile trading company, the Public Test Server has a new version of the Mischief Night event and Legendary Crafting. Follow the caravan questline Image via Bethesda At the time of writing, anyone who jumps into Fallout 76's Private Test Server can start the caravan questline and learn the ropes for running their own caravan company. Your character must be level 20, and all you need to do is keep an eye out for a flare somewhere in the Skyline Valley region. Follow that flare to discover Stony Man Lookout and begin the new questline. Mischief Night is returning, but it's moved to Rapidan Camp. This is the game's Halloween event, which makes sense since this update won't go live until later this year. The event will be on a daily rotation, so keep an eye out, test it, and use this time to prepare for all the cosmetic grinding you'll do later in 2024. Finally, this patch changes how Legendary Crafting works in the Public Test Server. The idea is for this system to give players more control over the Legendary Mods on their Legendary items. The new system adds Legendary Particles to the game, which you get by scrapping Legendary items or trading them with other players. You can then use Legendary Particles to craft Legendary Mods. The Legendary Crafting changes sound like a better system than what we have, but what I'm most excited about with this patch is being able to set up and run my own caravan company. Caravan traders are present in every Fallout game and feel like part of each entry's world. Establishing your own company and trading goods with Vault Dwellers or fictional NPCs across the Appalachian Wasteland will be a real dream come true for me. The Public Test Server is PC-only, so I'll be waiting to play with this new feature when it eventually hits the live game on all platforms.
